Illegal Donation in Pakistan
As we know, organ donation is a difficult task, but few people do it to save others’ lives. However, illegal organ donation is a persistent and serious problem in Pakistan. Fueled by poverty, a high demand for organs, and weak law enforcement, this trade has sadly become common in the country.
Organ donation has turned into a black-market business. According to reports, due to low income and other expenses, many uneducated and poor people sell their organs in exchange for small amounts of money. Research shows that about 80% of organ donors in Pakistan were illiterate and bonded laborers who saw no economic improvement after donation.
Illegal organ donation has become a business in Pakistan. The rich often deceive poor people, asking them for organ donations and promising money that they never receive. There are too many reports of such illegal activities. According to a 2007 study on kidney vendors in Pakistan, 90% of donors were illiterate and 69% were bonded laborers.
In conclusion, illegal organ donation is a major social and moral issue in Pakistan. The government should strictly monitor hospitals and raise awareness among poor communities to stop this exploitation.
