Growing diabetes in Pakistan
According to reports, diabetes is becoming an increasingly serious health issue in Pakistan, affecting millions of people across all age groups. Over 26% of adults are estimated to be living with diabetes or prediabetes, and the number continues to rise due to poor diet, sedentary lifestyles, and lack of awareness. While urban areas show higher prevalence, rural communities are also increasingly affected.
Unhealthy eating habits, excessive consumption of sugary drinks, limited physical activity, and obesity are major contributing factors. Many people remain undiagnosed, and those who are diagnosed often fail to manage the disease properly, leading to serious complications such as heart disease, kidney failure, and vision problems. Thus, govt should take a prompt action on this issue as soon as possible.
