Stop Child Marriage
I am writing to bring to your attention a serious issue that is affecting millions of children around the world. Child marriage is a harmful practice that mostly affects young girls. Furthermore, child marriage means getting married before the age of 18, which is considered the legal minimum age for marriage in many countries according to international law. Every child deserves a happy childhood, not the burden of adult responsibilities.
Child marriages can lead to serious health risks. Early pregnancy can cause life-threatening problems for both the mother and the baby. According to reports, more than 640 million women alive today were married before the age of 18.
Although many countries have set the legal age of marriage at 18, child marriage still continues due to cultural, economic, and social factors.
I strongly request the government and society to take strict action to stop child marriage. We must empower girls with education and give them the opportunity to build a brighter future. Every child deserves a childhood, not a wedding.
