Not supporting public interest

 Not supporting public interest

In Pakistan, failure to support the public interest often stems from deeply entrenched structural issues including weak governance, military influence, a persistent economic instability and a decline in public trust in state institutions to deliver justice and essential services. These factors lead to a system that prioritizes political stability over public needs. Frequently seen in the suppression of political opposition, crackdown on dissent and failure to address fundamental rights. A "hybrid regime" model often places power in the military, resulting in government that prioritize institutional control over public welfare, leading to erosion of public interest in democratic institutions. Government actions such as attempts to ban political parties and charging opposition leaders with treason don't serve the public interest but rather consolidate power.
