Oliver Twist

"Oliver Twist" is a novel authored by Charles Dickens and it was published in 1837.  It contains three volumes but I tend to review the first edition. The reason behind naming the book "Oliver Twist" was that the name Twist represents the reversals of fortune which the writer had experienced. He was inspired by his childhood and wrote this book.

The book reveals the story of a titular orphan, who, after being raised in a workhouse, escapes to London, where he meets a gang of juvenile pickpockets led by the elderly criminal Fagin. After going through various hurdles he discovers the secrets of his parentage and reconnects with his remaining family.

The main theme of the book is criminality and the cruel treatment of many orphans in Dicken's era. The novel is notable for its vivid portrayal of life in the nineteenth century in England, its memorable characters, and its exploration of issues such as poverty, social injustice, and the power of redemption.

I enjoyed a lot while reading this book because it gave me a new view of the world. I highly recommend this book for others to read it. It is such an interesting book that, if one starts reading it, does not stop until it is finished.
