Khalil Gibran the author of the Book “The Broken Wings” was born on 6 January 1883 and died on 10 april 1931 at the age of 48 in the city of New york his body was later transferred to his birthplace Bsharri. He was a poet, writer, artist and a philosopher who wrote 9 literary works in arabic and 12 in english. He was a skilled artist creating over 700 paintings and drawings. The Broken Wings is a poetic novel which was first published in arabic in 1912. The book is a love story which took place in Beirut, lebanon. Here the writer explores his main themes of love, social issues and loss. How the story talks about love? The man Khalil Gibran himself who fall in love with Selma Karamy who was one of the beautiful women. She thought the boy how to worship the beauty.

At first he met with Farris Effandi who was the father of Selma, he invited the boy to his house, where he met with Selma and they both fall in love with each other.

How the story talks about social issues?

In the century Beirut Eastern Mediterranean the women's rights were not provided the women were not allowed to come from their house, she secretly met with Khalil Gibran at temple. 

How the story talks about loss?

At the age of three Selma mother died, after getting married with an unkind man who was Bishop nephew. Due to this, her father lost his daughter smile and her father passed away. Five years of her marriage she gave birth to a baby boy, and at last baby boy the child with his mother Selma passed away.
