The students and villagers of Siri Kallag, a remote village in Gorkop, Balochistan. Are facing a serious problem with the lack of a high school in their area. The nearest high school is 20 km away from their village, and they have to walk this distance every day in harsh weather conditions. In the summer, the temperature can reach up to 50°C, and in the winter and the way they need to travel is unsafe and time consuming. This makes their journey very difficult and exhausting, and affects their health and education. This situation is unacceptable and unfair, as it deprives our children of their fundamental right to quality education and limits their opportunities for a better future. Education is the key to development and progress, and Balochistan is already lagging behind other provinces in terms of literacy, enrollment, and learning outcomes. According to UNICEF, 60 to 70 percent children in Balochistan are out of school, and 78 percent of girls and 67 percent of boys are out of school
The residents of Sirikallag Gwarkop, demand that the government of Balochistan provide us with a high school in our area, as per the criteria established by the Balochistan Education Project (BEP), which is funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and implemented with the support of the World Bank. The BEP has established over 550 new government primary schools, upgraded over 100 government primary schools to middle schools and middle schools to high schools within three years in Balochistan. We also urge them to extend their support to our area and address the issue of high school education.
We request you to kindly consider upgrading our existing middle school to a high school, so that we can continue our studies without having to travel so far. This will not only benefit us, but also the future generations of our village. We hope that you will understand our situation and take the necessary action as soon as possible.
