Flash floods in Pakistan


   Flash floods caused by abnormally heavy monsoon rains killed at least 549 and heavy monsoon has been affecting southern and north-western Pakistan over the past few days, causing floods, and flash floods that resulted in casualties and damage. Heavy monsoon rainfall and floods have affected some 2.3 million people in Pakistan since mid-June, destroying at least 95,350 houses and damaging some 224,100 more. 

   Sindh and Balochistan is the two most affected provinces in terms of human and infrastructural impact. Almost 700 people have now lost their lives as a result of weeks of monsoon rains in Pakistan, including 42 people who died in the last 2 days. Over 1.5 million people have now been affected, with thousands moving to relief camps for safety. 

   Furthermore, Government agencies and the army have set up aid and relief camps in flood-hit regions and were working to help relocate families and provide food and medicine in other parts of the country. But the Balochistan provincial government said it needed more funds. 

   So, l  appealed to the government of Pakistan and international organizations for assistance.
